AFID is a global multi-stakeholder platform coordinated by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), with the mission of accelerating industrial decarbonization in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement.
AFID was established to facilitate industry-level dialogue, foster cross-sector collaboration, and support the development and implementation of robust decarbonization strategies aligned with national net-zero targets. Bringing together public- and private-sector leaders from around the world, the Alliance works collectively to create actionable pathways for reducing industrial emissions on a global scale. The Alliance is currently co-chaired by Siemens Energy, alongside EMSTEEL, with Roland Berger serving as Knowledge Partner to support the strategic development and implementation of its initiatives
Joining the AFID, Offset8 Capital aims to support hard-to-abate industries alliance members in navigating complex decarbonization pathways by facilitating access to high-integrity carbon markets. Offset8 focuses on enabling the development and financing of projects that generate CORSIA-eligible and Article 6.2-compliant carbon units to support industries in meeting compliance requirements and achieving net-zero targets. Offset8 capital plays a catalytic role in expanding the supply of high-quality credits while accelerating the flow of private capital into climate solutions across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. By bridging the gap between global climate finance and on-the-ground implementation, Offset8 helps industries meet ESG and compliance requirements as well as deliver measurable climate impact.
Offset8 Capital joins a global network of more than 89 members and partners, including UNIDO, IFC, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development among others. This diverse coalition reflects the growing global momentum toward industrial decarbonization and the transition to a net-zero economy.
