Project details
The project, developed by iRise, could restore at scale over 200,000 hectares of degraded land in the Republic of Malawi by planting indigenous tree species. Additionally, the project aims to distribute easily trackable cookstoves to hundreds of thousands of households, to promote sustainable and healthy cooking practices, replacing traditional high-emission open-fire cooking methods. At full scale, the project benefit millions of Malawians through various community benefits.
Employment and Economic Opportunities
The project will create jobs and provide economic benefits to the local communities involved in planting and maintaining forests.
Food Security
Hundreds of hectares of farming land, along with necessary farming tools, will be provided to local communities for subsidized maize farming. The project will promote food security for over 25’000 people.
Health Improvements
Distribution of cookstoves will improve indoor air quality and reduce health risks associated with traditional cooking methods.
